Employment History

Brian commenced employment with Edwards Marshall in January 1971. Brian was admitted to the partnership of Edwards Marshall on 1 July 1983.

During the period from 1971 to 1978 Brian worked on audit and business consulting services engagements. He managed Edwards Marshall’s audit division until 1991 when he became extensively involved in forensic accounting services.

Specialist Areas

Brian is the firm’s senior partner in the forensic accounting practice. His work in this area involves the conduct of financial investigations and the provision of opinion evidence.

Financial investigations include:

  • The reconstruction of accounting and business records necessitated by fraud.
  • The analysis of financial records in connection with matters including corporate failures, acquisition and divestment transactions and causation.
  • The distillation and analysis of financial data for the purposes of quantifying loss or value.
  • Brian’s opinion evidence has been sought in respect of:
    • Accounting and audit negligence.
    • The assessment of economic loss and damage.
    • Valuations of businesses and business entities.
    • The reasonableness of pricing regimes.

Brian has published an extensive number of reports of his opinions and has given evidence in a number of jurisdictions throughout Australia.

Brian is also responsible for the provision of management consulting services to several of our major clients. He works in areas including corporate strategy, management reporting, risk management, investment analyses, acquisitions and divestments.
