NELSON WHEELER NEXIA JOINS FORCES WITH EDWARDS MARSHALL
On Monday 1 August 2011, Nelson Wheeler Nexia will join forces with one of Adelaide’s most respected accounting firms, Edwards Marshall.
With both Edwards Marshall and Nelson Wheeler Nexia sharing a common staff and client-focused business culture, the merger is a natural fit for both firms and its business strategy going forward.
Edwards Marshall Managing Partner, Benjamin Miels, said that Edwards Marshall has enjoyed strong organic growth since its inception and has not pursued past merger and acquisition opportunities because of its desire to remain independent, to be free to deliver its own brand of personalised client focused service and to maintain its unique culture.
However, when discussions commenced with Nelson Wheeler Nexia it became apparent that Nelson Wheeler Nexia also placed significant importance on its clients and its people and the merger presented a great strategic opportunity.
“We have a simple equation at Edwards Marshall which drives and shapes our culture and our firm, that Great People + Great Clients = Great Firm. Accordingly, employing great people and attracting and retaining great clients is paramount to everything we do,” Mr Miels said.
Nelson Wheeler Nexia, Managing Partner, Rob Ashby, is equally enthusiastic about the merger and said “The staff and clients of Nelson Wheeler Nexia will be presented with great ongoing opportunities for growth and exposure to expertise, from a combined team of people who has client services as the number one priority.”
“We’ll do everything possible to ensure a smooth transition, to achieve the best possible outcomes.”
The aggregation of the two firms brings together over 120 people including 10 Partners across seven core service offerings: Taxation, Business Consulting, Assurance, Forensic Accounting, Mining and Resources, Superannuation and Financial Services.
“Importantly, the people skills and clients of Nelson Wheeler Nexia complement the existing service offerings of Edwards Marshall and enhance the firm’s strategic direction,” Mr Miels said.
“Nelson Wheeler Nexia’s strong association with Nexia International will further complement Edwards Marshall’s business offering by providing an international affiliation with independent firms, including auditors, business advisers and consultants across the globe.”
“Nexia International will provide excellent people development and training opportunities that Edwards Marshall is excited to be able to offer its staff, and this was certainly a consideration during discussions.”
“It’s a change that not only injects new energy into Edwards Marshall but also signals an exciting new chapter, with all Nelson Wheeler Nexia staff relocating to Edwards Marshall’s Adelaide office.”
With a long history within the state, Mr Miels added that the combined firm will continue to reflect Edwards Marshall’s core characteristics and commitment to sharing its financial expertise and knowledge with its clients to assist with wealth generation.
